CarEnthu ("we", "our", or "the app") is published by AppSyntax. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the CarEnthu mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (for authentication and account recovery)
• Username (publicly visible on your profile and sights)
• Password (stored as a secure cryptographic hash — we never see your plain-text password)
• Profile information you choose to provide (avatar, bio)

Sign in with Apple

If you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and the name/email you choose to share. You may use Apple's "Hide My Email" service — we accept this.

Sights (User-Generated Content)

When you log a car sighting, we collect:

• The photo you capture or upload
• The car make, model, year, color, and notes you provide
• The date and time of the sighting
• Optional location data (latitude/longitude) if you choose to tag the sighting with location — this is only captured when you explicitly tap the location button

Device Permissions

The app requests access to:

• Camera — to photograph cars you sight
• Photo Library — to import existing photos
• Location (When In Use) — only if you choose to tag a sighting with its location

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your iOS Settings.

Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites. Apple's App Tracking Transparency is not triggered because we do not track.

What We Do NOT Collect

• Your contacts
• Your calendar
• Health or fitness data
• Financial or payment data
• Browsing history
• Precise location in the background

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the app (authentication, sight storage, social features)
• Display your sights, profile, and activity to other users as part of the app's social features
• Respond to reports of abuse and enforce our Terms of Service
• Respond to your support requests
• Improve the app and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. How Your Information Is Stored

Your data is stored securely on servers operated by Supabase Inc., our backend infrastructure provider. Supabase stores data in the AWS (Amazon Web Services) ap-southeast-2 region. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

4. Public vs. Private Content

By default, sights you create are public and may appear in the Explore feed, on your public profile, and in the feeds of users who follow you. You can mark individual sights as private when creating them.

Your username, avatar, bio, and follower/following counts are always public.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access and Export

You can view all information you've provided within the app at any time. To request an export of your data, email us at support@carenthu.app.

Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your account from within the app: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This action is irreversible and deletes:

• Your profile, username, email, and avatar
• All your sights and photos
• All your comments and votes
• Your follower and following relationships
• Any badges you've earned
• Any reports you've submitted

Account deletion typically completes within seconds. Backups may retain data for up to 30 days before being fully purged.

Block and Report

You can block any other user from within the app — you'll no longer see their sights or comments. You can also report any sight, comment, or user that violates our community guidelines.

6. Children

CarEnthu is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. International Users

CarEnthu is operated from Australia. If you use the app from outside Australia, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own. By using the app, you consent to such transfer.

GDPR (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

CCPA (California Users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete that information, and to opt out of "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, hashed passwords, and role-based access controls. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
